Programa “Estudios en el Extranjero

“Study Abroad” Program

The English Department is pleased to inform all the Educational Community of Sebastian School that, on December 6th this year, the first students participating in our institutional pilot project will set off a journey to the United States as part of the program “Study Abroad”. Our aim is to provide them with support and encouragement to continue improving their language skills (English), and also with new opportunities and experiences to help them become more integral people.

This program, as it is already known, consists in traveling to the United States for a period of three months, in which our students will live with carefully selected families that will host them and take care of them as their own children. These students will attend school and will be immerse in the usual American life, in a safe environment that has as main objective the use of English in a context different from the one in the classroom. This initiative also seeks to promote cultural exchange and to actively participate in extra-curricular activities.

The students will fly to Beaumont city, located in the state of California. They will be attending classes at Highland Academy Charter School, Institution in which they will have a memorable life experience that will fill them with knowledge and unforgettable moments that will make them grow not just academically, but also, personally.

This is a unique opportunity, which has been carried out with the help of the participating students’ parents themselves along with the Parents Council, which contributed with an amount of money for passports and part of the flight tickets cost; and also, the School Supporter Miss Janet Molina, who likewise contributed with an amount of money for the this program. We would also like to thank all our dear students who enthusiastically collaborated those days in which they were allowed to wear casual clothing so as to collect as much money as possible and finally, we want to thank all those who helped us make studying abroad a reality!

Bon voyage to our students from the 9th grade: Catalina Cea, Alex Hermosilla and Diego Maquehue, who have demonstrated exceptional academic ability, commitment to their school and passion for exploring other cultures!!

Enjoy!

Disfrutenlo!
